Nepal has given a target of 118 runs to Oman in the first match of the ICC T20 World Cup Global Qualifier.
Nepal’s Aarif Sheikh top-scored with 38 runs against Oman.
Sheikh, who came to bat at number five for Nepal, saved Nepal from making a low score.
Nepal’s four batsmen returned to the pavilion without scoring a double-digit run.
Nepal scored 25 runs in the last two overs of the first inning.
Nepal managed to score11 runs in the 19th over and 15 runs in the last 20 overs.
Oman won the toss and elected to bat first.
Nepal lost the first wicket to Aasif Sheikh. Sheikh was caught out in the first over of the game.
Sheikh was caught by Bilal Khan through Khawar Ali.
Nepal lost their first wicket in the last ball of the first over and lost the second wicket in the third over of the match.
Another Nepali opener Kushal Bhurtel returned to the pavilion with five runs.
Bhurtel was also caught out by Bilal Khan.
Losing early two wickets for 12 runs, Nepal’s third wicket fell in the seventh over.
Nepal’s Gyanendra Malla was bowled out for 15 runs.
Fayyaz Butt took Malla’s wicket and sent him to the pavilion.
Nepal lost Dipendra Singh Airee for the fourth wicket.
Oman wicketkeeper Naseem Khushi stumped out Airee in the ninth over of the match. Zeeshan Maqsood’s ball led Airee to the pavilion.
Airy, who faced 18 balls before being dismissed, contributed 11 runs with the help of a four.
Lokesh Bam left the crease as the fifth wicket of Nepal. He was bowled by Kaleemullah and was caught out by Khawar Ali.
Before returning to the pavilion, Bam contributed 16 runs off 17 balls for Nepal with the help of a six.
In the last ball of the 16th over, Nepal lost Bibek Yadav for the sixth wicket. This time too, Khawar proved to be lucky. He forced Yadav to leave the crease through Fayyaz Butt.
Yadav added seven runs for Nepal in ten balls.
After facing three balls and adding only one run, Kamal Singh Airee left the crease as Nepal’s seventh wicket. He was caught out by Khawar Ali through Prajapati.
Skipper Sandeep Lamichhane stayed not out on the crease with 16 runs.
Bilal Khan took two wickets, Fayaz Butt and Jason Maqsood took one wicket each and Khawar Ali took three wickets.
Oman just started the second inning and will eye on the win against Nepal.
