Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has announced the 14-man squad for the upcoming Global Qualifiers of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Skipper Sandeep Lamichhane led team has left out Pradeep Airee, Kushal Malla, and Sahab Alam from the final squad.
Allrounder Karan KC is replaced by young pacer Gulshan Jha.
KC has not been recovered from a back injury and is ready to fly back to Nepal.
Lately added Sagar Dhakal has also made it into the final squad.
Coach Pubudu Dassanayake made the final squad after the recent Oman quadrangular series.
Nepal recently played with host Oman, UAE, and Ireland in the quadrangular series and ended up being at bottom of the point table.
The Nepali team will participate in the global qualifiers game to be held in Oman from February 18 to 24.
Nepal is in Group A for the World Cup qualifiers to be held in Australia this year.
There are eight teams in the group including Nepal, Oman, Bahrain, Canada, Germany, Ireland, Philippines, and UAE.
Group A, includes host Oman, Canada, Nepal, and the Philippines.
Group B includes Ireland, UAE, Bahrain, and Germany.
Nepal will play Oman in the inaugural match on February 18.
Another group is packed with Zimbabwe, Hong Kong, Jersey, the Netherlands, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Uganda, and the United States.
The Group B qualifiers will be played in Zimbabwe from July 11 to 17.
The top two teams from both groups will advance to the World Cup.
