Most people fall asleep after eating food. A food coma is a condition in which you fall asleep immediately after eating. It is considered normal and is also called postprandial somnolence.
In this condition, a person experiences drowsiness and fatigue after eating a big meal.
Most people have these symptoms when they eat a lot:
– Fatigue
– Being lazy
– Low energy level
– Not being able to focus on any work
– Feeling Sleepy
Even if the word coma is used in this case, it cannot be considered a serious coma. The person does not lose consciousness in this.
There are several different theories about the causes of food coma. Researchers have studied the condition for years, but don’t necessarily agree on why the condition occurs.
In addition to overeating, if the body’s natural rhythms are impaired, sleep deprivation, changes in blood circulation, and a high intake of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins can also lead to coma (food).
It usually lasts up to four hours after eating. This can lead to fatigue and sleep deprivation while driving, lifting heavy loads, or some other risk. Falling asleep after eating can also be a sign of diabetes. That’s why you should keep checking your blood sugar level.
It can be avoided if you do not eat a lot at once. In addition, if sleep interferes with work, you can sleep for half an hour. It makes the body feel fresh. Since unhealthy foods can lead to food coma, the daily diet should include all the nutrients.
Food coma can be avoided by sleeping seven to eight hours daily, not drinking alcohol, and drinking plenty of water to keep the body hydrated.
