The government of Nepal has signed its second additional concessional loan agreement with the World Bank.
The agreement worth 18 million USD was signed on Friday at the Ministry of Finance by Secretary Madhu Kumar Marasini and World Bank’s country director Faris Hadad-Zervos. According to the Ministry, the loan is for the COVID-19 Emergency Response and Health Systems Preparedness Project (CERHSP).
The use of the proposed loan will further facilitate the expansion of the vaccination campaign against COVID-19 by the government and will help in purchasing safe and effective vaccines for the age group five and above.
The additional financing will support Nepal to scale up its vaccination efforts to cover its child populations as well, says Secretary Marasini.
Director Hadad-Zervos was very pleased that the World Bank is in its continued partnership with Nepal, and through this additional Financing will make available safe and effective vaccines to a larger proportion of the population.
